Low Voltage Three-Phase Reactor
Low Voltage Three-Phase Reactor

The industrial classification framework for Low Voltage Three-Phase Reactors is well-structured. Functional application acts as the primary classification benchmark, supplemented by secondary classification dimensions including structural design, reactance ratio and ingress protection rating. Each distinct reactor type features unique electrical parameters, functional performance and applicable operating conditions, allowing precise matching with all types of low-voltage power distribution demands.
When grouped by core functionality, four primary product categories exist. The first category is the low-voltage three-phase series reactor, the most prevalent product across the market. It is wired in series within low-voltage reactive power compensation capacitor loops. Its core functions include restraining destructive inrush currents generated during capacitor switching, preventing capacitor overload failure, filtering high-order grid harmonics via matched reactance ratios, eliminating risks of parallel resonance between power grids and capacitor banks, and maintaining stable operation of reactive power compensation systems. It is universally deployed within low-voltage compensation cabinets at most manufacturing facilities.
The second category is the low-voltage three-phase shunt reactor, which is connected in parallel to the terminals of low-voltage power grids or long-distance power supply lines. Its core purpose is to absorb capacitive reactive power from the grid, stabilize line voltage, resolve overvoltage issues under light-load or no-load operating states, and maintain consistent voltage levels across low-voltage electrical systems. It sees frequent use in long-distance low-voltage power distribution networks, low-voltage grid interconnection for photovoltaic power stations, and power supply circuits operating under minimal nighttime loads.
The third category is the low-voltage three-phase input reactor, engineered exclusively for power electronic devices such as frequency converters and rectifiers, and installed at the grid input terminal of this equipment. It effectively suppresses grid-side voltage surges, harmonic interference and three-phase voltage imbalance, filters electrical noise from the power grid, protects internal circuit modules within frequency conversion and rectification hardware, and lowers overall equipment failure rates. It is compatible with industrial variable-frequency speed control systems and rectifier power supply units.
The fourth category is the low-voltage three-phase output reactor, fitted between the output terminal of frequency conversion equipment and its connected loads. It smooths pulsed output currents generated by frequency converters, restrains high-frequency electromagnetic radiation and dangerous line overvoltage, and alleviates motor overheating, operational noise and premature insulation degradation. It is suitable for long-distance motor drive circuits and power supply loops for high-precision industrial control loads.
In terms of structural design, reactors fall into two variants: dry-type iron-core reactors and dry-type air-core reactors. Iron-core reactors utilize laminated silicon steel cores, delivering high inductance values within compact dimensions at a lower manufacturing cost, making them ideal for standard harmonic suppression and current-limiting applications. Air-core reactors contain no ferromagnetic core, exhibiting minimal magnetic loss and exceptional anti-saturation performance, rendering them suitable for harsh operating environments characterized by high operating frequencies and severe harmonic distortion. Standard reactance ratio specifications include 2%, 4%, 6% and 7%. The 2% and 4% ratios are deployed in environments with mild harmonic distortion, while 6% and 7% ratios target the commonly encountered 3rd and 5th electrical harmonics, establishing them as the dominant universal specifications for industrial applications.
